Rowan Yurt

Tucked beneath our ancient sycamore tree, with views across to the moorlands to Ramshaw Rocks, The Rowan Yurt is a five metre Mongolian style retreat built for couples who want cozy, romantic, and properly switched off. Wood burner warmth, twinkling fairy lights, and Peak District wilderness right outside the door.

A Romantic Escape for Two.

Designed with couples in mind, The Rowan Yurt sleeps two in a comfortable king size bed. Underfoot, natural jute flooring sets a rustic tone, while bunting, fairy lights and garlands echo the wild beauty of the landscape around you, rural, glamorous, and just a little bit magical after dark.

Warm, Comfortable, All Year Round.

A wood burner keeps things toasty whatever the season, so this isn’t just a summer escape, it’s a genuine four season retreat. Solar bedside lights, a cozy sofa and coffee table, and a chest of drawers make the space feel like a proper home from home.

Your Own Private Outdoor Space.

Step outside to your own private hot shower, separate toilet, and outdoor kitchenette, all just for Rowan Yurt guests. The little kitchenette comes fully equipped with a twin burner hob, all the cooking kit, crockery, cutlery, wine glasses and mugs you could need.

Views Straight Out of the Peak District.

Open the door to our ancient sycamore tree, complete with swing chair, our wildlife pond, and open grassland beyond. Look up and you’ll see The Roaches rising right next door, with Ramshaw Rocks completing one of the most dramatic views in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

A Modern Yurt with Classic Character.

Styled like a traditional Mongolian yurt but built for modern life, The Rowan Yurt has a steel frame, weatherproof modern fabrics, fire retardant lining, and insulated roof, so it stays snug whatever the Peak District weather throws at it. Like all our properties, it’s named after a tree from the grounds here at Hen Cloud.

Getting Here and Getting Out.

Parking is just twenty metres away in our main car park, so there’s no trekking with bags. You’re on the doorstep of The Roaches for climbing and walking, close to the villages of Upper Hulme, home to the wonderful Ye Olde Rock Inn, and Wincle with its brewery and pub. Further afield, reach Bakewell in around thirty five minutes, tackle the Dragon’s Back walk in twenty, or spend a day exploring Castleton, Mam Tor, and the show caverns. The market towns of Leek and Buxton are both a short drive in either direction.
