This is a bed and breakfast facility, which is situated at Hen Cloud Cottage and in an Annexe just across the yard from the main house. Our property is off Roach Road down a single track road and it is advisable to bring a pair of walking boots as it can get muddy if we have a lot of rain. The track is quite narrow, but there are passing points on the way up if you meet another car. At the entrance of the property we have electric gates. Please call us when you arrive and we will let you into the drive. During your stay you will have access to the electric fob that opens the gate on arrival.
There is email, telephone and fax facilities available on request. The nearest town is four miles away. There is a bus route within 2 miles to be caught on the A53 near the Three Horse Shoes pub. There is a public house (Ye Olde Rock Inn) which is within a 10 minute walk of the cottage. There are taxi services available from the nearby town . The nearest shop is a 4 mile drive into Leek .
The property is not wheel chair accessible due to set of steps on way in. There is a hand rail at the steps.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
The car park is within approx 5 metres of the entrance of the annexe entrance. There is plenty of additional parking within 20metres, all spaces are easily accessible and there is no fee payable for parking. The drive is made of tarmac surface and is well lit. There are 5 steps from the car park up to a paved patio area . There is then a ‘Macclesfield’ step (small metal step) into the Annexe. The parking area is lit throughout the night.
Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area
The entrance to the property is up five steps approx 20cm high. There is a swinging gate at the top which can be pushed back to stay open when needed. There is a small step into the Annexe, approximately two inches high. The floor is on the same level throughout the property, which is laminate. Guests come into the house conservatory for breakfast, which is just across the yard. There is a small step, two inches high on the way in. There are two doors which can be opened for easy access. In the dining area the floor is laminate, and carpet throughout the rest. All doors are made from wood.
Public Areas – Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc
The public areas are all on one level in the building. The floor is carpeted and laminated . There are no stairs. The property is bright and airy. The tallest steps are four inches high, which are on the way into the annexe.
Public Areas – Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc
The dining area has laminate flooring, which is also covered with a large rug. On the way in there is a small step three inches high. There is a radio that the guests can listen to if they wish to. The lighting is a standard fitting no spotlights. The floor is on the same level throughout.
The WC is situated on the same level as bedrooms, and is lit by spot lights. The floor is carpeted. There is a wall radiator. The sink has hot running water controlled by a mixer tap. There are coat hooks on the back of the door and a seat if needed. The shower is a quadrant with mixer controls, the doors both open sideways to allow full access.
There is a fire alarm fitted in all public areas and fire extinguishers and blankets where needed. There is a telephone in the main house for emergencies. We have a no smoking policy in all our premises, although smoking is allowed on the patio, but all cigarette ends must be disposed of properly in the bin provided.
Fridges and freezers are available.
